This lip balm is my newest lip balm addition to my shop - and I will say that it is, by far, one of my favorite lip balms thus far.
Palo Santo: Known as “holy wood”, Bursera Graveolens is a wild tree found in areas from Mexico to Peru & belonging to the same family as Frankincense and Myrrh. The resin is harvested ethically from fallen branches. It is most commonly used for therapeutic and physical healing (you can read more about it online).
Palo Santo is a hard resin that can be used in soap and lip balm after a series of steps are taken. This lip balm uses resin-infused oil in addition to the essential oil.
To infuse Palo Santo resin in oil, I take the hard resin and grind it to a fine powder. I then cover it with oil and infuse for several weeks, shaking the infusion several times over the course of each day. Before using it to create this lip balm, I warmed the resin oil on low heat over 24 hours to maximize every bit of the resin prior to straining and creating lip balm.
The scent of palo resin comes through very lightly in this lip balm from the actual resin itself and light usage of the essential oil.
Also: this lip balm is not suitable for those who are vegan or vegetarian.
Palo Santo resin is quite expensive; the price of this lip balm is a little higher than the others, considering the cost of the resin, and the steps/time involved in creating resin infused oil needed to create this lip balm.
