These bars are made with a high content of coconut oil, and packed with Hawaiian Black Lava sea salt. I would encourage you to read more about Black Lava Sea Salt and how it can support healthy skin.
I've raised the superfat on these bars to compensate for the high content of coconut oil making them incredibly moisturizing for the skin - the bar also lasts an incredibly long time.
Initially the bar will look rustic, and may crumble in some places (typical of salt soap bars), but they lather up beautifully and last an extraordinarily long time.
I don't make these bars often - but when I do, they are always super popular. However, they are really really challenging to make. Once the batter is poured, they harden very fast, and you must cut them at "just" the right time for them to cut perfectly. If you wait too long, they will crumble into a ridiculous mess ... and if you cut too early, they won't cut right either. To deal with this issue, I make this soap at a specific time of the day, and set a "timer" to make sure I am 100% on the ball when the timer goes off ~ and I can cut at that EXACT moment. Once cut, they need to cure for 6-8 weeks to allow the water to evaporate from the soap and make the bar as hard as possible.
Note: This soap is not suitable for those who are vegan or vegetarian.
The Hawaiian Black Lava Salt gives them their natural color of light black. While they will make your shower/bath water run dark, they will not stain your tub or skin.
Ingredients include: distilled water, saponified oils (organic coconut oil, olive oil, beef tallow, castor oil), Hawaiian Black Lava Sea Salt, Sandalwood Essential Oil.
