Cottonwood Oil, also known as Balm of Gilead Oil, is well known for the many admirable qualities that make it fantastic for supporting healthy skin.
Cottonwood Trees are found in the Pacific Northwest (Populus Balsamifiera) as well as the Southwest (Populus Fremontii). The buds of the tree are available late winter/very early spring – it is those buds that exude a sticky resin that is referred to as “Balm of Gilead” (Cottonwood oil).
The salicylates found in cottonwood are relatives of aspirin, and cottonwood has a significant amount of qualities that make it wonderful for supporting skin in a variety of ways.
To make cottonwood oil, the sticky, resinous buds are hand collected from the ground and fallen branches in the fall/early spring. The fresh buds are then infused in extra virgin olive oil for a period of 8-12 weeks, under controlled heat before being combined with castor oil and beeswax and transformed into lip balm. Cottonwood Balm (salve) is also available in my shop and a 2 oz tin includes a FREE bonus lip balm.

Not only is Cottonwood Oil special in terms of the support it offers skin, the lip balm and salve both have a sweet, natural aroma. Apply to lips to support healthy skin.
I am quite limited in detailing the health benefits of Cottonwood Oil here; I would encourage you to research more so you are knowledgeable in all of the ways that Cottonwood Oil/Balm of Gilead can benefit skin.
Note: I have a variety of lip balms in my shop, all of which include tallow (in lieu of the ever-so-popular shea butter). I'm a huge advocate of beef tallow in skincare as it has so many benefits. This lip balm, however, does not include tallow - but it does include beeswax. For that reason, it is not considered vegan.
