Lanolin is known supporting healthy skin.
If you have not used lanolin before, or are unfamiliar with lanolin, it is a byproduct of washing wool and is also (commonly) known as wool wax. It is a yellow fat that coats a sheep's wool to protect it from the weather - it's also known as wool fat, and wool grease.
How is lanolin collected? Sheep wool is washed with alkaline ingredients, then centrifuged to separate the fat from the water, and further purified. Wool fat (lanolin) has a sort of sheep-ish smell. Those who have used lanolin are aware that lanolin has a strong "sheepy" smell - in this salve, I have added lavender essential oil to bring down the smell but it isn't completely unscented - I can't add "too much" essential oil (as that isn't good for skin!) so there is still a faint sheepy smell to the salve.
Lanolin's hydrophobic properties help protect skin from infections and irritation by sealing in moisture. Lanolin is MUCH thicker than lotion - a little goes a long, long way!

I formulate my salves/balms with beeswax to maintain a solid state that is beneficial for skin application. However, this product will melt if kept in the heat (mailbox, car) for an extended period of time. If you are in a hot/warm climate, please take note of the shipping arrival so as to avoid leaving the salve in your mailbox for an extended period of time. If, for any reason, the salve has melted or softened in transit, it will solidify back to its original state if kept out of the heat.
