This soap combines Frankincense Resin with tallow, castor oil, coconut oil and olive oil to make a hard bar of soap that’s gentle on skin and has a thick lather.
Using Frankincense resin in soap requires a significant amount of steps ~ to make this soap, I took the resin and ground it into a fine powder. I then covered it with olive oil and infused for several weeks. I then took the resinous oil and heated it (intermittently) on low heat over a period of 48 hours before adding to my soap recipe. I also go a step further and add additional resin powder to the soap batter just prior to pouring.
The scent of frankincense comes through VERY lightly in this soap from the actual resin itself (not the essential oil). Since the bar uses resin-infused oil in addition to resin powder, the bar has a thick lather (sugary resin encourages a rich lather).
Also: this soap is not suitable for those who are vegan or vegetarian.
Note: This soap does not contain frankincense essential oil - it is an unscented soap.
Ingredients include: distilled water, saponified oils (frankincense resin infused olive oil, coconut oil, beef tallow, castor oil), Frankincense resin powder, Unscented.
