Cottonwood Balm, also known as Balm of Gilead, is a very well known balm with many admirable qualities.
Ingredients include: Extra Virgin Olive Oil infused with wild harvested poplar buds (Populus Balsamifera and Populus Fremontii), Beeswax (Cera Alba).

Lip Balm ingredients include: Extra Virgin Olive Oil infused with wild harvested poplar buds (Populus Balsamifera and Populus Fremontii), Castor Oil (Ricinis Communis), Beeswax (Cera Alba). Cottonwood Trees are found in the Pacific Northwest (Populus Balsamifiera) as well as the Southwest (Populus Fremontii). The buds of the tree are available late winter/very early spring – it is those buds that exude a sticky resin that is referred to as “Balm of Gilead” (Cottonwood oil).
To make this balm, the sticky, resinous buds are hand collected from the ground and fallen branches in the fall/early spring. The fresh buds are then infused in extra virgin olive oil for a period of 8-12 weeks, under controlled heat before being combined with beeswax and poured into 2 oz reusable tins with a screw-top.
Not only is Cottonwood Balm special in terms of the support it offers skin, the salve has a sweet, natural aroma.
